Pasta Butterfly Life Cycle

Ages3–7
TimeAbout 20 min
MessA little messy

You need

  • Paper plate and glue
  • Rice (egg), spiral pasta (caterpillar), a shell (chrysalis), bow-tie pasta (butterfly)
  • Markers

Let's play

  1. Draw a big circle with four parts on the plate, with arrows going around.
  2. Glue a grain of rice on a drawn leaf: the egg.
  3. Glue the spiral pasta next: the caterpillar. Then the shell: the chrysalis.
  4. Glue the bow tie last: the butterfly! Color the butterfly.
Grown-up tip: Retell the cycle out loud as you point. Dry pasta and rice are small: stay close with toddlers.
