Every evening, Lulu Bunny watched the sun slide down behind the hill. "Where does the sun go at night?" she asked. "Does it go to bed too?"

Ollie Owl knew lots of things, because he was awake when everybody else was asleep. "Let me show you," he said.

Ollie held up an orange. "Pretend this is our Earth. We live right here." He drew a tiny dot on it.

Then Ollie turned on a flashlight. "And this is the sun." The light shone on one side of the orange. "The dot is in the light. It is daytime!"

Slowly, Ollie turned the orange around. The dot moved into the shadow. "Now it is nighttime," said Ollie. "The sun didn't go anywhere. Our Earth turned around!"

Lulu's eyes grew big. "So right now, while we have night, someone on the other side of the Earth is having daytime?"

"Exactly," said Ollie. "And they're probably eating breakfast."

That night, Lulu waved out her window. "Good morning, other side of the Earth!" she called. And somewhere, far away, the sun was saying hello.

Let's talk about it
