Sink or Float?
You need
- A big bowl or the bath
- Things to test: spoon, cork, apple, coin, sponge, toy
Let's play
- Hold up each item. Guess: will it sink or float?
- Drop it in!
- Sort into a sink pile and a float pile.
- Try to make a sinker float — in a plastic lid boat.
Grown-up tip: Apples float — most kids guess they will sink. Coins and small objects are choking hazards: stay right beside little ones, and never leave a child alone near water.
